Long time, no post

Hey there, I had an email remind I hadn't posted in a while. A long while. So what have I been up to? So many things, but the biggie is that I am now "retired" from my library job. You'd think I'd be writing more, right?

Not so much.

This Covid-19 thing has really messed with my creativity. I've been trying to keep up with my journal more, and my bullet journal helps me stay on top of every day life, but the writing is difficult to get back to. While my family has been healthy and my husband has stayed employed the enforced isolation sucks. Being an introvert and choosing alone time is one thing, but doing so because it's kind of the safe and practical thing to do is aggravating.

It took me a while to get into the retirement thing, but I'd been going to exercise classes at the Y and really enjoying the camaraderie there. And I'd started an oil painting class, my first creative love back when I was a teenager. Now I walk miles around my neighborhood daily, carefully pulling up my face covering or even crossing the street when someone comes toward me. I'm surprised I haven't worn a groove in the sidewalk. I read, a LOT. I've been painting. But I'm no more productive now than I was when I was working and didn't have as much free time. I miss having lunch with friends and visiting my kids and grandsons. Sigh.

And I truly am grateful for what we have. And I acknowledge that daily. But still.

Anyway, that's been what I've been up to. If you follow my K.D. Huxman blog, you'll know that my kid's non-fiction book The Colorado Coal Field War: Massacre at Ludlow won a couple of awards. I'm very proud of it.

I'll try to post more often. Take care of yourselves! Wash your hands!
